Comedy Cellar

exact-same-talent-replica-1

The Comedy Cellar – now open at the Rio Hotel – is the “greatest” comedy club in the world?

The Comedy Cellar:

* Is rated THE #1 comedy club by Google Reviews AND #1 by TripAdvisors… (you can look it up… ok, you may have trust issues… you really do need an hour and a half of wall-to-wall laughing… so here ya go.

Premiered stars like Amy Schumer, Ray Romano, Jon Stewart, Colin Quinn, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Dave Attell, and is the “home club” for stars like Michael Che, Colin Jost, Michelle Wolf, Bill Burr, Judah Friedlander and Dov Davidoff (No promises, but ya never know who’s going to drop in! )

* Features not just an MC, middle act and a headliner doing an hour (like other clubs) but 5 TV Headliners doing their best killer 20 minute sets – in each show!

The club itself is a star of major TV series and films, including HBO’s Crashing, Robert De Niro’s “The Comedian”, Jerry Seinfeld’s feature doc “Comedian”, FX’s hit series named after a male comedian we’re not allowed to mention, and whose regulars are seen on every late night show from Letterman, Conan, Fallon, Kimmel, and in their own Netflix and Comedy Central Specials

Is hailed as “THE iconic comedy club” by Vanity Fair (elitist, yeah, we know) and “A Billion Dollars of Comedians” by The NY Times (which usually hates everything!)

Has its own Comedy Central weekly TV series coming this fall(!) – “This Week At The Comedy Cellar” (we came up with the name ourselves at 3AM, after getting hammered)

Sells out 30 shows a week in its 3 New York rooms – still, after 37 years of operation (which makes us the most successful comedy show in NYC)

Built an exact replica of the NY Comedy Cellar at the Rio Hotel  (don’t ask what THAT cost us) – and books the same talent we book in NYC

Ron White

ronwhite21

Grammy-nominated comedian Ron White has been unleashing his Scotch-soaked worldview on fans of off-color humor since the mid-'80s, but it was his performances on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour from 2000-2003 that firmly planted him on stand-up comedy's A-list. Following a best-selling book and two No. 1 comedy albums in the 2000s, White once again topped the comedy charts in 2013 with A Little Unprofessional, hitting the road with a series of hilariously crass performances that left fans eagerly awaiting his 2014 dates.

Born and raised in Texas, Ron White spent nearly two decades in the trenches of local and regional standup circuits before hitting the big time in 2000 as a charter member of the hugely successful Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which also featured Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy. His 2003 comedy album Drunk In Public landed at No. 2 on the Top Comedy Albums chart, going on to achieve gold certification from the RIAA. Following that breakthrough success, White went on to release three consecutive No. 1 albums of bawdy redneck comedy, culminating in 2013's A Little Unprofessional.

Crazy Girls

crazygirls2

With its new move to residency at the Planet Hollywood Casino Resort, Crazy Girls is clearly a permanent fixture on the Las Vegas Strip. The ultra-sexy show has entertained millions of audience members, including famous faces like Nicolas Cage, Magic Johnson, Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci and Tom Jones.

MSNBC calls the the bronze Vegas-Strip tribute statue one of the "World's Top 10 Good Luck Monuments." The story of how this image became iconic is filled with controversy that started in 1994 when Las Vegas city officials sought to persuade the Riviera Hotel and Casino, the previous home of Crazy Girls, to take down a billboard near City Hall. The show refused on the grounds that taking down the advertisement would infringe upon the girls’ First Amendment rights. The bronze statue depicting the now internationally famous image was erected years later as a tribute to the Girls' successful fight; it has become an international symbol of good luck, and thousands of visitors visit the statue each year to rub the trademark bare bronze derrieres. Once again in 1999, Republican state Senator Bill O'Donnell declared the sexy ad showing the Crazy Girls' bare backsides too racy... pushing to remove ads from Las Vegas taxicabs. The Crazy Girls fought back and prevailed once again; the ads can still be seen on Vegas taxicabs today. The Crazy Girls' controversies didn't start there, however. Years earlier, Crazy Girls shocked Las Vegas by performing without tights - a testament not only to the show's willingness to make headlines, but also to the show's high standards for the athleticism and sexiness of its performers. With nearly everything laid bare, there was no question which show had the hottest girls in town.Las Vegas' most sizzling topless show still pushes the envelope night after night. Brand new routines are introduced that feature the scintillating professionally trained dancers performing world renowned choreography, a nod to its classic floor-show roots. Routines range from topless contemporary boot-stomping pole dance numbers to bawdy, burlesque classics. $500,000 in dazzling costumes adorn each girl, from Parisian-influenced topless outfits to black leather and spiked heels, but one thing is constant - the G-strings that accentuate the Girls' trademark derrieres. The always controversial and sexy Crazy Girls is a must-see show now only at Planet Hollywood.

Darius Rucker

drucker1

If at first you succeed, then do it again.

Singer Darius Rucker earned a legion of fans with the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish. Most performers would be happy with success in one genre, but Rucker has lead the charts not just in rock 'n' roll but also carved out a second chart-topping career in country music.

Rucker first rose to rock 'n' roll fame and earned a Grammy as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of Hootie & the Blowfish. With Rucker the band had six Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and their debut album "Cracked Rear View" became the 16th best-selling album of all time. Their hits "Only Wanna Be With You," "Let Her Cry" and "Hold My Hand" became part of the soundtrack to the mid '90s.

Hootie & the Blowfish's amazing popularity opened up solo opportunities for Rucker. After a short period as an R&B artist, he surprised many with a complete switch in genres to country in 2008, releasing the album "Learn to Live," which spawned the No. 1 country hit "Don't Think I Don't Think About It." With that song, Rucker became the first African-American recording artist since Charley Pride in 1983 to have a No. 1 country song.

That was just the beginning of Rucker's country success. There were two more No. 1 songs in 2009 -- "It Won't Be Like This for Long" and "Alright." That year Rucker also won the Country Music Association's New Artist of the Year Award. Then 2010 saw a second country album "Charleston, SC 1966" and two more No. 1 hits -- "Come Back Song" and "This."

Darius continues to break records as he pursues his country music career. In 2012 he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In May 2013, his cover of Old Crow Medicine Show's "Wagon Wheel" from his album "True Believer" hit No. 1. The song has also earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Country Solo Performance. Rucker won the Grammy becoming only the third African-American recording act to win a vocal performance Grammy Award in a country music category.

Asked if he ever believed he'd be so successful as a country artist, Rucker said, "From where I was five years ago to the Grand Ole Opry, why would I believe that? I didn't even know if country radio was going to play my song, but you can't think about things like that."

Comedy After Dark

comedyafterdark

Comedy After Dark is an edgy late-night comedy show featuring a rotating lineup of comedians along with host Jeremy Wieand and headliner Anthony Padilla.

As host of the show, Wieand sets the tone for Comedy After Dark at the LVH – Las Vegas Hotel & Casino with his humorous anecdotes. He started his career in the entertainment business when he was 11 years old and signed with a New York talent agent to pursue his dream of being like his hero, Charlie Chaplin. When he was 13 he was booked to play the character Andy King on the TV series "Big Brother Jake." He performed in the show for 100 episodes. Throughout the '90s he appeared in numerous popular TV shows, including "Boy Meets World," "Sister, Sister," "Clueless," Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" and "Saved by the Bell: The New Class." After a 10-year hiatus from acting, Wieand decided to pursue his other dream, becoming a stand-up comedian. His return to the stage was received with big laughs resulting in gigs at various comedy clubs across the country, including Comedy Store in Hollywood, Big Al's Comedy Club, The Laugh Factory, L.A. Comedy Club and King's Comedy Club at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

You may recognize Padilla from his appearances on the History Channel's "Pawn Stars" and "American Restoration."

Before comedy, Padilla performed for crowds on the baseball field. After a career-ending injury, he started talking, turning his sad tale into a source of comedy. Padilla started doing stand-up comedy in Arizona and soon started working with already established artists like '80s rockers Wang Chung and well-known comedian Louie Anderson. Padilla performed as an opening act for Anderson for almost a year before landing his own gig.

Since then Padilla has appeared on the CW Network, A&E, the History Channel and Lifetime. With his quick wit and captivating storytelling, Padilla amuses audiences if he's on stage or in front of a camera. Along with headlining in Vegas, Padilla can be seen alongside Las Vegas professional sports handicapper Scott Pritchard, co-hosting "The Odds Couple," an online sports betting and entertainment show on the Vegas video network.

The theater features a dance floor that is surrounded by the walk-out area of the stage and VIP table seating and bottle service for those seated closest to the stage.

With constant costume and set changes, Spears performs such hits as "Oops!... I Did It Again," "…Baby One More Time," "Britney," "I’m a Slave 4 U," "Womanizer," "Hold It Against Me" and "Toxic."

Spears first appears inside a spherical cage, performing "Work B*tch" from her recently released album, "Britney Jean." With 14 dancers, Spears struts from song to song, at one point performing "Everytime" suspended over the stage as a giant angel. Bruno Mars

bmars 3

As the first musician to perform at The Chelsea, 13-time Grammy award-winning artist Bruno Mars brings a high-energy show to The Park MGM.

On opening night, Mars opened the vintage-inspired concert venue with a sold-out concert delivering what he does best: an electric performance that included his hits and original versions of songs by other artists, including Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin and Bell Biv DeVoe.

"This is opening night, yo," Mars said to the screaming, enthusiastic fans. "This is it."

Mars and his band -- who bring to mind the Temptations with their smoothly choreographed moves -- performed his signature hits such as "Treasure," "Billionaire," "When I Was Your Man" and "Just the Way You Are" all while framed by an unique pyramid digital screen display that changed frequently and showcased close-up shots of Mars.

"The best $200,000 I ever spent," he jokingly told the crowd. It was just one moment in a performance that showcased Mars showmanship, talent and ease with the audience that are hallmarks of Vegas' great headliners.

Mars easily brought the audience to a crescendo roar as he repeated, "a little bit louder now" several times. Later he quipped, "I got so much hairspray in my hair right now, my eyes are burning. I’m doing it all for you, Vegas."

Mars exploded on the scene with the release of his debut album, "Doo-Wops & Hooligans," in October 2010. That album has since gone platinum dozens of times over. Grammys won include "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance" for his song "Just the Way You Are." In 2011, Time Magazine named him among the 100 most influential people in the world.

He has also been recognized for his work co-crafting hits for such artists as Alicia Keys, Brandy, Flo Rida, Lil Wayne and CeeLo Green.

Erasure

erasure1

Formed in 1985 by Vince Clarke, formerly of Depeche Mode fame, and vocalist Andy Bell, Erasure is one of the most successful and long running acts in British pop. The band released their first album, "Wonderland," in 1986 and the record's follow up, "Sometimes," shortly after, which launched a string of successful singles.

Erasure hit fame in the U.S. in 1988 with the single "Chains of Love" from the album "The Innocents" and began to grow their dedicated fan base outside of their native Britain. The single, "A Little Respect," was also a hit with American fans and reached No.14 on the charts. More studio releases followed as the band's cult following continued to grow. In 1992, Erasure released "Pop! The First 20 Hits," a compilation of the band's top singles. In 1994, "I Say I Say I Say" was released marking the group's fifth studio album. "I Say I Say I Say" featured the single "Always," which was the first hit for Erasure in the U.S. since their breakout in 1988. They followed up with a self-titled release in 1995 and the album "Cowboy" in 1997.

Additional releases including, live albums, cover albums and others followed, and in 2009 they released "Total Pop! - The First 40 Hits," which contained not just their hits, but a remix of hit single "Always" by producer Jeremy Wheatley. In 2011 Erasure released "Tomorrow's World" which was followed in 2013 with the Christmas album "Snow Globe."

"The Violet Flame," recorded in New York and London and produced by Richard X, will be released on Sept. 23, 2014 and is the band’s 16th studio album.

From 1986 to 2007, Erasure had 24 consecutive Top 40 hits in the United Kingdom and 3 Top 20 hits in the U.S. (on the Billboard Hot 100): "A Little Respect" "Chains of Love" and "Always." The English synth-pop duo has enjoyed their greatest popularity in the UK, Europe and South America. To date, they have sold more than 25 million albums.
