In 1971, REO Speedwagon released its first album, but the pop-rock band didn't chart until 1974 with "Ridin' the Storm Out." That album was recorded with temporary vocalist Michael Murphey, who would later have some solo success of his own. Regular vocalist/rhythm guitarist Kevin Cronin rejoined the band in 1975.

The 1977 release "REO Speedwagon Live/You Get What You Play For" began a string of gold and platinum albums, culminating with the 1980 album "Hi-Infidelity," which sold more than 10 million copies in the United States and included the No. 1 single "Keep on Lovin' You."

REO Speedwagon became known for its power ballads and has scored 13 Top 40 singles including "Time for Me to Fly," "Can't Fight This Feeling" and "Keep the Fire Burnin'."

The band continues to tour regularly, performing mostly their classic hits.

I'm always afraid that somewhere out there, there is one person in the audience that I'm not going to offend."
  • Audience: Fans of insult comedy and observational humor.
  • Venue: Orleans Showroom.

He's the Merchant of Venom, the King of the Insult -- a comedian whose acid tongue makes audiences squirm. Don Rickles is never without a quick-witted barb. His insult comedy makes fun of all people and walks of life. The comedian, whose earliest ambition was to become a dramatic actor, got his start in the boroughs of Manhattan. His early acts mixed stand-up with his impressions of famous actors of the day, which included Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney and Cary Grant. It was one fateful night, however, that Rickles, who was performing in a strip club, unleashed all his frustrations at a group of rowdy sailors, leaving a string of insults in his wake. The crowd ate it up, and Rickles had found his niche. Throughout his career Rickles has continued to perform as a stand-up comedian, amusing audiences with his signature biting wit. His remarks are offensive, but the end result is always laughter from the crowd.

Jeffrey Osborne

jeffreyosborne21

Hailing from Providence, Rhode Island, Jeffrey Osborne is man with the quintessential soul voice, the kind of man that gives you goosebumps as standard, he was also the lead singer of the R’n’B and Funk band L.T.D, although since parting ways in the 80s has gone on to receive 5 gold and platinum albums – the smooth power of his approach cannot be underestimated.

The audience was a swaying mass from the start and was as enchanting as watching groups of fish quickly change direction together. My utmost favourite song and ultimate classic On The Wings of Love was spellbinding and the key change nearly made me cease up in a blissful paralytic fit, I really don’t know how he carries his voice so unbelievably well.

It was quite clear from seeing him as well how much he enjoys doing what he does, his chuckle is warm and made me uncontrollably smile, he joked with the crowd, knew when we weren’t singing as loud as we could. He creates a warm and friendly atmosphere; buttering everybody up. It would be easy to group Jeffrey into the same category as the like of Lionel Richie and George Benson but he offers something different, a unique charisma and he still hasn’t lost any of it over 30 years on.

Charlie Daniels

cdaniels1

Charlie Daniels and his band were hugely successful country/rock artists during the late '70s and early '80s and remain a popular concert attraction today.

It all started in 1969 when Daniels moved to Nashville to find work as a session guitarist. He broke through as a record maker himself with 1973's "Honey in the Rock" and its hit song "Uneasy Rider." His rebel anthems "Long Haired Country Boy" and "The South's Gonna Do It" propelled his 1975 collection "Fire on the Mountain" to double platinum status.

Epic Records signed Daniels to its rock roster in 1976. The contract, reportedly worth $3 million, was the largest ever given to a Nashville act up to that time. In the summer of 1979, Daniels returned the company's favor with "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," which became a platinum single, topped both country and pop charts, won a Grammy Award, became an international phenomenon, earned three Country Music Association trophies and propelled Daniel's "Million Mile Reflections" album to triple platinum sales levels.

Daniels had several rock crossover successes in the years following "Million Mile Reflections." "Full Moon" went platinum in 1980 and 1982's "Windows" went gold.

Although he continued to sell records steadily throughout the '80s, he didn't have another big hit until 1989's "Simple Man," which went gold.

In April 1998, top stars and two former presidents paid tribute to Daniels when he was named the recipient of the Pioneer Award at the Academy of Country Music's annual ceremonies.

"Live From Iraq" and "Deuces" were released in 2007. In November 2007, Daniels was also invited by Martina McBride to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry and was inducted during a ceremony in 2008.

Daniels continues to tour and release albums.

KA

 ka21

ka22

ka23

Truth is, there’s a Cirque du Soleil production for just about every personality, mood and interest out there. And “KA,” is for the action-loving, adventure-seeking show goers that can appreciate an age-old story of good versus evil. The storyline illustrates the journey of a brother and sister twin duo that becomes separated during a siege of their Far Eastern palace by evil warriors. Yep, this is a royal battle, y’all and they’ve pulled out all the stops.

The entire theater is designed to fit the theme so no matter where your gaze takes you, you’ll be looking at the set. But you’re really gonna love this: the stage is made up of two massive moving platforms that not only float, but turn completely vertical. Did you hear that? That was the sound of our minds being blown. And just wait until you see the suspended fight scenes.

Also, while it’s insanely cool, not all the stunts are done in the air. The Wheel of Death, for example (ohmagah can you believe they have a Wheel of Death?), is positioned firmly on the ground while the daredevil performer flings himself into dangerous heights, where one misstep could lead to his demise. A story of intense battle, and a question of triumph or defeat to the very end, KA is entertainment on an entirely new level. Forreal.

Hitzville

 hitzville21

hitzville22     hitzville23

Hitzville The Show is a nostalgia-filled trip through the Motown hits of yesteryear. Vocalist Jin-Jin Reeves, along with backup singers and the five-piece Hitzville band, fills Planet Hollywood's V Theater with an authentic Motown sound and experience that will have you clapping your hands and dancing in the aisles.

Hitzville is a journey through the times and places that made Motown famous, opening up with The Pips' classic "I Heard it Through the Grapevine," and going through different acts, going from one influential Motown band to the next.

Expect famous songs like "My Guy," "Natural Woman" and "What's Love Got to Do With It," along with a few rarer tracks that will make Motown fans very happy.

Throughout the show, Reeves evokes the sound and character of Motown's most famous divas, going from Diana Ross to Gladys Knight to Tina Turner (and many others) without missing a beat. This comes as no surprise, as Reeves has shared the stage with many of the performers she covers in "Hitzville." Such energy in a tribute show is rare, but really makes "Hitzville" stand out among the rest.

Reeves' backup singers in some of the songs will catch your eye when they come out dressed in red suits when they cover The Temptations, and will continue dazzle each time they come out in colorful attire and appropriate stylings for each new act.

The group incorporates appropriate choreography into their acts, mimicking the original groups in both sound and showmanship. From their matching shoes to their side stepping and sliding across the stage, there are times when you'll truly believe you're in an authentic Motown show in the 1960's. This is further enhanced with Reeves' likeness to the divas she's covering. You're in for a treat when she gets to the Tina Turner segment of the show.

Make no mistake: you will find yourself dancing along and having a great time at Hitzville.

Comedy After Dark

comedyafterdark

Comedy After Dark is an edgy late-night comedy show featuring a rotating lineup of comedians along with host Jeremy Wieand and headliner Anthony Padilla.

As host of the show, Wieand sets the tone for Comedy After Dark at the LVH – Las Vegas Hotel & Casino with his humorous anecdotes. He started his career in the entertainment business when he was 11 years old and signed with a New York talent agent to pursue his dream of being like his hero, Charlie Chaplin. When he was 13 he was booked to play the character Andy King on the TV series "Big Brother Jake." He performed in the show for 100 episodes. Throughout the '90s he appeared in numerous popular TV shows, including "Boy Meets World," "Sister, Sister," "Clueless," Sabrina, the Teenage Witch" and "Saved by the Bell: The New Class." After a 10-year hiatus from acting, Wieand decided to pursue his other dream, becoming a stand-up comedian. His return to the stage was received with big laughs resulting in gigs at various comedy clubs across the country, including Comedy Store in Hollywood, Big Al's Comedy Club, The Laugh Factory, L.A. Comedy Club and King's Comedy Club at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

You may recognize Padilla from his appearances on the History Channel's "Pawn Stars" and "American Restoration."

Before comedy, Padilla performed for crowds on the baseball field. After a career-ending injury, he started talking, turning his sad tale into a source of comedy. Padilla started doing stand-up comedy in Arizona and soon started working with already established artists like '80s rockers Wang Chung and well-known comedian Louie Anderson. Padilla performed as an opening act for Anderson for almost a year before landing his own gig.

Since then Padilla has appeared on the CW Network, A&E, the History Channel and Lifetime. With his quick wit and captivating storytelling, Padilla amuses audiences if he's on stage or in front of a camera. Along with headlining in Vegas, Padilla can be seen alongside Las Vegas professional sports handicapper Scott Pritchard, co-hosting "The Odds Couple," an online sports betting and entertainment show on the Vegas video network.

Matt Goss

mgoss3

Singer Matt Goss is bringing audiences back to the days of vintage Vegas with a swinging band, sexy dancers and a classic casino venue.

The show, at the former Cleopatra's Barge (now dubbed the Gossy Room) at Caesars Palace, features a blend of covers and Goss' original songs. Since the show takes place in a lounge smoking is allowed during the show.

Goss sings familiar tunes like "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder and The Eagles' "Hotel California," which he plays with a unique reggae/ska spin.

Goss' dapper attire, blue eyes and smooth voice have drawn the inevitable comparisons to Frank Sinatra and he pays tribute to the legendary singer and the Rat pack era in his show by crooning songs like "Luck Be a Lady" and "I've Got the World on a String."

While the covers are fun, a large part of the show also includes Goss' original songs.

For those who may not be familiar with Goss and his music, he's an accomplished singer and songwriter. Known by his fans as "The Voice," Goss found fame as the lead singer of the British '80s pop group Bros. With 11 Top 40 singles and three Top 20 albums, Bros was one of the biggest acts in the U.K., selling more than 17 million records worldwide.

In 1992, Goss left the band to pursue a solo career. His debut solo album "The Key" was released in 1995. He has also written hits for other chart-topping artists, including the song "Change Me" for Keri Hilson and Akon. His song "It's the End of the Road" was used as the elimination song on the TV show "So You Think You Can Dance." He released the album "Gossy" in 2009 and the single "Firefly" from the album was remixed by DJ Paul Oakenfold.

Besides great singing, Goss' show also features a nine-piece band including a talented horn section. Goss himself sits down at the piano for a song or two and plays the guitar.

While the women in the audience clearly enjoy watching the handsome singer, there's some eye candy for the guys too. The show, produced by Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin, features the Dirty Virgins, a troupe of sexy, scantily-clad dancers who perform on stage and sometimes amongst the audience.

The Gossy Room, also known as Cleopatra's Barge, has a rich history at Caesars Palace (it opened in 1970) and is the perfect spot to enjoy the old Vegas vibe of Goss' show. The room, surrounded by red velvet curtains, was remodeled when Goss opened his show there and features new carpet and furnishings. There are small tables with candles on them and cocktail waitresses in long black gowns bring drinks to guests. There is also a small bar in the back of the room. The Gossy Room is a small venue -- there are only about 175 seats -- but it makes the show feel almost like a private performance to which you were invited. The intimate room also allows Goss to connect with fans as he comes out into the audience on certain numbers.

When the show is over, the party doesn't stop. Goss often sticks around after the show to have a cocktail or two and take photos with fans. The party keeps going in the room with a DJ and dancing well into the wee hours of the morning.
