Brad Garrett's Comedy Club

bgarretts21

The MGM Grand Las Vegas just got a whole lot funnier. There’s a perfectly good reason Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club has been voted “Best Comedy Club” by the Las Vegas Review Journal and “Best Place to See Comedy in Las Vegas” by CityLife Magazine. While Brad Garret himself performs on select nights, his band of comedians do a great job at keeping the laughter going in his absence. The stand-up gamut runs from the well-known comedians to those just breaking into the business, but trust us when we say that Brad Garrett knows how to pick them.

This 90-minute show will have you hypnotized (literally. Comedian hypnotists make a few cameos). And don’t be shocked if you find yourself being greeted at the door by Brad Garrett himself – he likes to do that.

The only place to see Brad Garrett live in Las Vegas along with a stellar line up of comedians

Brad Garrett has been in the comedy circuit since the early 80s and has opened for some Las Vegas legends like Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli and Julio Iglesias. His role as Robert on “Everybody Loves Raymond” has earned him three prime-time Emmy awards and three more nominations. There’s no doubt that Brad Garrett knows his comedy, which means the comedians he invites to his club are definitely top-notch.

V - The Ultimate Variety Show

vultimatevarietyshow21

vultimatevarietyshow22     vultimatevarietyshow23

Don't blink, you might miss something. Actually, you might miss a lot. That's what audiences at V - The Ultimate Variety show will want to remember. This fast-paced, high-energy show features an exciting lineup of specialty acts from around the world. During the 75-minute revue you'll see about seven different acts take the stage.

New performers are constantly being added to the show's roster, so you never know exactly who you're going to see that night. Some of the recurring acts include: dancer/ street performer Turf,  master juggler Wally Eastwood; the Skating Aratas; The Crazy Gauchos from Argentina Eduardo Lomé and Hugo Latorre; Ukrainian rhythmic gymnast Tamara Yeroffyeva; and comedian Russ Merlin.

The show's variety format stems from the days when shows used to feature a specialty act to supplement the main production. In some instances, those specialty acts became the stars of the show. At V - The Ultimate Variety Show, all of those stars get a chance to shine in one amazing revue. The varied lineup makes this show a great option if you're traveling with a group and looking for a show that has a little something for everyone.

Eastwood is both the host and a performer in the show. His infectious energy sets the pace for the whirlwind of talent about to take the stage. Eastwood has been described as having "the fastest hands on Earth," and it's easy to see why. He performs several different routines throughout the show, including juggling ping pong balls with his mouth and playing Beethoven's "Für Elise" by bouncing rubber balls on an electronic keyboard. Not only does he amaze, but Eastwood makes people laugh. His happy-go-lucky attitude paired with his self-deprecating humor is a winning combination.

The Skating Aratas kick things into high gear with their daring acrobatic skating act. Performed by husband and wife Victor and Jenny Arata, their act is done on a small platform on an area of the stage that extends into the crowd. Victor propels the duo in a high-speed spin while lifting and spinning Jenny in the air in a series of awe-inspiring poses. The limited performance space, paired with their risky routine is nothing short of amazing.

Terry Fator: The Voice of Entertainment

tfator 3

Terry Fator may just be the greatest illusionist on the Las Vegas Strip, but you'll never see him perform any magic tricks. He amazes audiences by singing like famous entertainers from Elvis to Cher without moving his lips, and that's not all. Along with being a singer and a celebrity impressionist, Fator is a puppeteer. His face may not move much during his show, but his hands are always in action, bringing to life his cast of lovable puppet co-stars.

The puppets each have their own comical personalities and music style, which makes Fator's show feel like both a concert and a stand-up comedy routine. There's Winston, the impersonating turtle; Walter T. Airdale; Maynard Thompkins, the World's Greatest Elvis Impersonator; Emma Taylor, the little girl with the big voice; Duggie Scott Walker, the annoying neighbor; Julius, the soul singer; Monty Carlo, the lounge singer; Hyphen, the delusional British rocker; Vikki, the cougar; Barry Fabulous, a flamboyant hip-hop diva; and Wrex, the safety expert. When the puppets aren't singing, they're sharing their comedic wit with Fator and the audience.

All the while, if you really pay attention, you get the chance to hear something remarkable. Fator's vocal range extends from Etta James' "At Last," to Garth Brooks' "Friends In Low Places." The appreciation for his talent runs even deeper when he performs both parts of two duets. He does Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe," and "What A Wonderful World," as Kermit the Frog (with Winston) and Louis Armstrong.

Combine that range of musical samplings and add in that Fator never opens his mouth more than half an inch during the songs unless he's taking a breath or, on the rare occasion, singing a song as himself.

To call Terry Fator a master of puppets would be an under appreciation for his show and talents. But to call him the best singer on the Strip, who doesn't open his mouth more than half an inch, while using puppets and providing endless comedy might be more accurate. Unfortunately, that's really hard to fit on a billboard.

A multitalented performer, Fator got his big break when he won NBC's "America's Got Talent" in 2007. Fator won $1 million and a gig to perform on the Strip. He started out as a headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton, which is now LVH - Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, and later moved to The Mirage. Since 2008 hundreds of thousands of tourists have seen Fator's show. Aside from Vegas, Fator has been featured on "The Today Show," "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "The Late Show with David Letterman."

An Evening with Jason Alexander and His Hair

jalexander3

If you're a fan of "Seinfeld," seeing Jason Alexander put on a stand-up act in Harrah's Showroom is a no-brainer.

Alexander, of course, is best known for his role as Jerry Seinfeld's friend, George Costanza, on what was one of the most popular television sitcoms ever to air on American TV. The series, which ran on NBC for nine years (from 1989 - 1998), was a cultural phenomenon coining catch phrases that are beloved to this day.

Naturally, it can be hard to separate Alexander from George. What's great is by the end of the evening you'll discover Alexander is a funny, gracious and versatile performer -- which is a far cry from the cheap, unhappy, lying loser he'd played on TV.

The show is titled "An Evening with Jason Alexander and His Hair." This should help prepare you for the fact that Alexander, who sports a head of hair, is not George, who is famously bald.

Actually Alexander is bald ("I started losing my hair at 17 years old") and what he's sporting is a toupée. He provides lots of reasons -- all of them amusing -- on why he wears the hairpiece. Mainly, it helps him get other acting gigs by differentiating him from his alter ego. Also unlike George, Alexander foregoes glasses.

There is a piano onstage. Alexander, who has tons of Broadway credits under his belt, displays his musical chops throughout the night. He opens with a song parody expressing his love and appreciation for Vegas audiences -- as they have come "to see me instead of Donny & Marie" or "topless shows."

The night ends with a medley of Broadway hits, during which Alexander sings, dances, changes wigs and showcases unusual props, like a children's tugboat bath toy.

About halfway through the evening, there's a segment geared especially to "Seinfeld" fans. Alexander plays the piano and belts out "Georgie on My Mind" (based on "Georgia on My Mind") while the accompanying video screen shows a montage of George's most infamous moments -- i.e., getting a massage from a man, eating an éclair he's pulled out of a trash can and racing off on a mobility scooter from an angry group of seniors. Afterward, Alexander takes questions from the audience about what life was like behind the scenes of "Seinfeld."

If you're seated in the front rows, be warned, Alexander enjoys interacting with the crowd, which can lead to some embarrassing and soggy moments…particularly for men.

The rest of Alexander's act broaches on a variety of topics, with plenty to entertain everyone. For example, he has some humorous thoughts on manscaping, tattooing and the SkyMall shopping magazine. He reveals what it's like to grow up as an unattractive "fat" kid in corduroy pants. And having been happily married for 32 years, he shares his insight on what it takes to make a relationship work.

"I was not what she was looking for," he joked while mischievously mocking things like good communication and supporting each other in favor of a little "dishonesty."

So maybe Jason Alexander and George do have more in common than he wants you to believe.

Ray Romano & Kevin James

rromanokjames 4

  • Ray Romano is famous for his TV Emmy award-winning show "Everybody Loves Raymond."
  • Kevin James starred in the TV show "King of Queens."
  • Romano is the voice behind Manny the woolly mammoth in all of the "Ice Age" films
  • James has starred in a variety of A-list comic films including "Grown Ups," "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," "The Dilemma," "Hitch" and more.
  • Audience: Those who enjoy everyday life humor
  • Venue type: Terry Fator Theatre

Ray Romano and Kevin James team up for a night of non-stop laughs in Vegas.

Romano had plans to become an accountant before stepping onstage during an open-mic night at a New York comedy club in 1984. That same year, he won a stand-up comedy contest and started down a different career path.

Romano made regular appearances at comedy clubs and on talk shows, including "The Tonight Show" with both Johnny Carson and Jay Leno and the "Late Show with David Letterman." The Letterman gig led to a deal with the production company Worldwide Pants Incorporated, leading to the sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond," which ran from 1996 to 2005.

His hit TV show earned Romano nominations and awards, including a 2002 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy and the 2002 and 2003 People's Choice Award for Favorite Male TV Performer, and he shared the 2003 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Besides having an award-winning TV series, Romano also tackled other projects. He headlined a comedy festival at Carnegie Hall, won and donated $125,000 on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" and wrote the best-selling book "Everything and a Kite." He also released the CD "Ray Romano: Live at Carnegie Hall," with proceeds going to the September 11th Fund.

Romano lent his voice to the 2002 animated film "Ice Age," where he played Manny the woolly mammoth. He also appeared in "Eulogy" (2004) and "Welcome to Mooseport" (2004). In 2006 he revised his role of Manny in "Ice Age: The Meltdown." In 2008 Romano returned to television in the TNT series "Men of a Certain Age" and since 2012, has made appearances on TV's "Parenthood."

Kevin James began his career in stand-up the way many other comics have -- at an amateur night at a comedy club.

He first earned recognition on "Star Search" for his comedy act and then appeared on "The Tonight Show." His big break came at the 1996 "Just for Laughs" Montreal Comedy Festival.

After the festival, he landed a recurring role on his friend Romano's sitcom, "Everybody Loves Raymond."

It wasn't long before James got his own sitcom on CBS, "The King of Queens." The show aired from 1998 to 2007.

He made his movie debut in 2005 in the Will Smith comedy "Hitch." He then went on to star alongside Adam Sandler in "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry." His other recent film credits include "Grown Ups" (also starring Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider ) and "The Dilemma" (also starring Vince Vaughn).

What seems to qualify as “rock music” has changed a bit over the years. But Shinedown is here to remind us what the phrase really means when they hit the Vegas stage.

Like we said, rock music comes in many forms, but this band likes to rock the opposite of how we like our math tests: hard. Shinedown have placed 11 number one singles on the Billboard Rock chart, including “45,” “Sound of Sadness” and Simple Man.”

So how do you define “rock music?” Shinedown would probably define it as “success.” Or getting punched in the mouth. Depending on the day, we suppose. Check out Shinedown at the Pearl inside the Palms Resort on August 12, 2020.
