Chris Tucker is best known for his role as Detective James Carter, opposite Jackie Chan in the "Rush Hour" film series, but he got his start in stand-up. Tucker was a frequent performer on Def Comedy Jam in the 1990s, and he capitalized on his success on the stage to secure roles in hits like "House Party 3" and avant-garde flick "The Fifth Element." He played Smokey in the stoner comedy "Friday." Tucker won critical acclaim for his performance in the David O'Russell film "Silver Linings Playbook," which was nominated for eight Academy Awards in 2012
